- In Attempt to Better Lives- Assessment of Special Boarding Schools under the Ministry of Education and Science.
- According to a recent Child Care services mapping in
Georgia, there are currently 2,285 children living in large
scale residential settings including so called special
boarding schools.(Mapping of Child Care services in Georgia

kindergartens.)
Beneficiaries of schools with residential care can be
children with special educational needs due to disability or
behavior problems but in reality the majority are simply

5 of the Georgian Childcare Standards
At the beginning of 2010, the Ministry of Labour, Health and
Social Affairs initiated the process of upscaling various
existing institutions to the Childcare Standards and asked
non-governmental organizations with child protection focus
to conduct assessments of existing services and propose a
training program of caregiver/teachers capacity building.

- Pre-Vocational/Vocational Training in Rustavi Day Care Centre
- The project was funded by UNICEF and implemented in
collaboration with Art for Future and Elisabeth Gast
Foundation in January-May, 2009.
The aim of the project was to expand Rustavi Day Care Centre
services by introducing pre vocational/vocational component
and familiarize Rustavi Day Care Centre (RDCC) beneficiary
children and youth with a variety of professional career
opportunities.
The project beneficiaries were: 50 RDCC children; 8 SGH
children; 15 parents of RDCC children; 15 RDCC educators and
4 SGH parents/replacement parents.

- The Support to Child Welfare Reform Project has been
developed as part of the European Union’s programme of
assistance to Georgia. The Terms of Reference of the project
were developed in partnership with the Government of Georgia

- The “Develooping Gate-keeping System and Services”
project was designed by EveryChild in 2006-2007 to support
the reform of the child care system and strengthen gate
keeping as a fundamental mechanism of the

Georgia recently signed a contract to begin implementation
of a 20-month project on Advocacy for Participation to
Protect Children’s Rights.
